Job Description:

• Provides overall strategic direction and leadership in establishing a safety culture.
• Create a system and procedures which will reduce accidents and injuries.
• Development, implementation and monitoring of driver safety and training programs.
• Provides strategic support to Management throughout the organization.
• Evaluates existing safety and risk management programs and incorporates state-of-the-art safety techniques and processes.
• Develops safety curriculums and implements safety training and development across the Company.
• Oversee programs to reduce insurance costs associated with workers’ compensation and liability claims.

Job Responsibilities:

• Directs a team of Regional Safety Managers, Supervisors and Workers’ Comp to ensure compliance with company policies, Federal and State Laws regarding driver selection and safety.
• Make recommendations for performance improvement and collaborate with other department personnel in information management activities.
• Develop and implement Risk & EHS strategies policies, programs and procedural guidelines to reduce liability exposure from employee injuries, vehicle accidents and public safety issues through training, inspections, and performance reviews, and OSHA compliance requirements for the company.
• Work directly with the various departments within the company to manage training and coordinate departmental representatives for emergency drills.

• Manage all internal and external relationships as they relate to government requirements and internal policy compliance.
• Attend local and government affiliation meetings to stay abreast of all current legislature as it pertains to safety and transportation, i.e. FMCSA, AHA, CTA, National Safety Council, etc.
• Oversee all DOT compliance (including Drug Program & HOS), as mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), coordinating with HR as necessary.
• Oversight of the company accident insurance claims and settlements operation process.
• This includes subrogation and direct approval of monetary settlements in litigation. 13. Assist and advise on risk financing issues, specifically the placement and maintenance of general liability, auto liability and workers’ compensation coverage.
• Oversight of the Samsara Camera program and review and assignment of coaching events.
