Job Description:

To protect the company's global assets and property from risk of loss via the purchase of insurance and by implementing a global risk management program in the most cost efficient and effective manner. Develop, implement and maintain safety/training programs and safety training on a global basis. Oversee the handling of global insurance claims, including North America workers' compensation claims.

Job Responsibilities:

Procure and manage all lines of property and casualty insurance required to protect the company. Manage broker selection prices as necessary. Prepare and review underwriting information submitted to the insurance markets to portray our company in the most favorable light and as a desirable risk to underwrite. Negotiate with insurance carriers and underwriters for the maximum insurance coverage at the most cost efficient pricing and terms at renewal-for all lines of coverage. Perform market research on insurance products that are coming out in the marketplace and analyze our company's needs. Keep abreast of changes in the insurance carrier and insurance broker space that are capable of writing our business.

Direct all claims handling and monitor claims handling by insurance carriers and outside counsel. Work directly with insurance carriers/claims adjusters for favorable outcome of our claims and to maximize recovery. Work with outside counsel to provide necessary information and act as a liaison to facilitate issues between counsel, carrier and our needs. Work diligently with insurance carriers to have access to our pre-selected counsel.

Direct Safety and Workers Compensation Department activities. Work closely to determine each claim's most optimum handling and how to minimize costs to the company-workers' compensation claims. Meet with insurance broker and carrier to perform claims reviews to focus on claim resolution. Meet regularly with workers' compensation counsel to direct activities on our claims and to keep up to date with workers' compensation reform and laws. Monitor and maintain OSHA compliance. Maintain safety manuals and programs.

Provide risk management consulting and support to all departments, business units and company operations as needed. Assist with contractual transfer and recommend specific contractual language to transfer risk to other parties. Recommend and advice on specific insurance requirements for activities in foreign countries. Provide advice on any insurance related issue for the company and key executives. Work closely to strategize with Loss Prevention, HR and Legal on claim and employee issues. Review new products and projects the company may be interested in undertaking and evaluate and analyze their potential exposures to the company.

Perform other miscellaneous administrative and support functions to increase efficiency. Prepare budget for Risk Management and Safety Departments. Maintain global policy manuals and process documentation. Attend risk management functions and seminars. Support various departments with various projects as requested. Coach, educate and grow staff within department to excel in their positions. Keep in contact with the consumer product safety commission with regards to any potential issues that may affect our product lines and the safety of our customers.
